La Prématernelle Francophone Trottin-Trottinette (''Trottin-Trottinette'') is seeking
candidates for the position of Executive Director.
Trottin-Trottinette is a non-profit early childhood center founded in 1983 and located
on the site of the André-Piolat School in North Vancouver, British Columbia. It is governed
by a Board of Directors ("BOD") and a General Manager ("GM").
Reporting to the BOD, the GM is responsible for executing Trottin-Trottinette's strategic plan
and managing its operations and finances. This role involves providing visionary leadership
, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring effective implementation
of the organization's mission, vision and goals.
The DG will optimize Trottin-Trottinette's operations and the delivery of
early childhood education and care services, ensuring effective management of
human, financial, material and real-estate resources within the available financial framework
and in accordance with prescribed budgetary rules.
Trottin-Trottinette provides services to 156 families and 228 children through four different
programs:
- Le Jardin d'Enfants: a year-round toddler program for
one- and two-year-olds;
- La Prématernelle: a preschool for 3- to 5-year-olds;
- La Garde Parascolaire: a before- and after-school care program;
- Le camp d'été Anim'atout: a summer camp for preschool and school-age children.

Responsibilities
Leadership and strategy
- Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the organization's mission and
goals.
- Provide visionary and operational leadership to the organization.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Board administration and support
- Support the Board's operations and administration by advising and informing its
members and acting as intermediary between the Board and employees, while
ensuring the integration of new members.
- Carry out an annual self-assessment.
- Organize monthly Board meetings, including a report on the management of
operations.
- Draft proposed policies and procedures where necessary.
Operations management
- Oversee the organization's operations, ensuring that effective
and efficient processes are in place.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures
ensuring compliance with legal, ethical and organizational standards.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations concerning the health, safety,
development and well-being of children.
- Ensure the proper use, maintenance and safety of premises, equipment and
materials.
Financial management
- Prepare budget forecasts to be presented to and adopted by the Board of Directors.
- Develop, manage and monitor the annual budget and ensure financial stability and sustainability
.
- Complete grant applications to obtain available funding.
- Manage fee schedules in accordance with legal and governmental requirements.
- Prepare financial statements and report to the Board at monthly meetings.
- Ensure the application of good accounting practices and tax compliance for
centers de la petite enfance.

Human Resources
- Lead, motivate and develop staff to achieve the goals of
the organization.
- Ensure that the organization has the talent and capabilities necessary to achieve
its goals.
- Oversee staff performance evaluations,
professional development and succession planning.
Program Management
- Develop and implement program initiatives and associated policies,
e.g. snack program; pet therapy program;
extracurricular offerings such as weekly music, yoga and physical education classes;
field trips.
- Ensure compliance with departmental guidelines such as the
BC Early Learning Framework and
licensing requirements. Align programs with Trottin-Trottinette's mission and the evolving
needs of the francophone community.
Community and Public Relations
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with members (parents),
stakeholders (such as the school), government agencies and other non-profit
organizations.
- Represent the organization in public settings and at events to
enhance its visibility and reputation.
Advocacy
- Advocate for the organization's mission and objectives within the
francophone community and with decision-makers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key legislative bodies and
regulators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in non-profit management, business administration
, public administration, or related field or equivalent
professional experience.
- Minimum of 6 years experience in a management role in childcare centers
. Experience in non-profit organizations is an asset.
- Must be able to perform all job functions in both French and English.
Other important requirements
- Ability to operate a minority-language daycare adjacent to a French-language
school in BC.

- Knowledge of or willingness to quickly learn the BC Employment Standards Act
, human rights, WorkSafeBC, licensing regulations related to

- Knowledge of human resources legislation, including recruitment
international, visas and permanent residency (legal support is available).
- Demonstrated experience in creating, establishing and managing
early learning programs.
- Familiarity with British Columbia's Early Learning Framework: Cadre
d'apprentissage précoce.
- Familiarity with Quebec's "Accueillir la Petite Enfance": Guide.
- Good understanding of the various laws and regulations relevant to
early learning centers, particularly for BC, or willingness to learn.B., or willingness to learn
quickly.

- Good understanding in relation to French-speaking childcare centers:
pedagogical principles, operations and relevant constitutional framework concerning
French-language education rights in Canada.

Compensation
Annual salary range: $90,000 - $110,000.
Type of position: Full-time, Permanent.

Work schedule:
- On average 37.5 hours per week, starting between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m., finishing between 4:30 and
5:00 p.m.
- Evening and weekend work may be required. A monthly
board meeting is held in the evening.
- Daily on-site presence is required with a future possibility of a
hybrid work schedule.
- Travel within Greater Vancouver and elsewhere in BC may be required
to attend meetings, conferences and other events.
